If Angels Had Laptops
An (oddly) creative writing workshop for anyone longing to hear their loved one’s voice again.
I can’t be the only one wishing heaven had airports and return flights.
What if you could book a flight to visit your loved one and ask them what they’re observing “down here” from up there?
This workshop is your chance to take the flight as many times as you like.
Trust me, this only sounds weird until you start.
Grief and loss are touchy subjects. Probably the touchiest of them all.
After losing my son, I faced off with grim questions like: “When is it even appropriate to write about this? Is it too soon? Is it too sensitive?”
I hit the publish button anyway.
Within a few months of spilling my grieving mother’s guts all over the internet, I grew tired of hearing my own heartbroken voice.
I longed to hear his voice instead.
That’s when ‘Memoirs of a Dead Guy’ emerged.
Readers fell in love with the concept. My son instantly got his voice back and I felt gently fulfilled being able to tell his story through his eyes.

Got Questions?
-
Anyone who’s lost a significant loved one. If you’re already a writer/journaler, I’m sure you’ve attempted to pen your way through as many of your griefy moments as possible. If you’re not a writer, you’ve not yet uncovered the deep catharsis that writing provides.
Either way, you miss your person like crazy, and you’d give anything to hear their voice again and keep their memory alive.
-
Learning to channel the voice of your departed loved ones through short, memoir-style writing. No, we’re not lighting candles conducting seances. However, you may need a Kleenex or two, depending on how sensitive this becomes for you. OR, you might smile more than you thought possible.

This is not a grief support session, it’s a creative writing workshop. If your loss is fairly fresh and you still need airtime for your deepest grief, this workshop may not be the right place for you (yet). That said, we can absolutely support and uplift one another as a group of writers on a grief journey!

Through this workshop, we will undoubtedly conjure up plenty of feelings, but my hope is to spark joy and/or contentment by freeing your loved one’s voice and allowing them to tell their own story. Of course, the words will be written by you, but if there’s anyone who knows them best, it’s you. We’re just helping them open their journals and their wings a little. 😇

Each workshop is a one-time event capped at fifteen participants.
Our intensive session will last three hours (with a 15-minute stretch/coffee refill break) and is delivered live via Zoom. Anyone who has workshopped with me before knows I’m a chronic over-deliverer, so the likelihood of lingering longer is wide open.
